Roussette de Montagnieu

Roussette de Montagnieu

Very concentrated Altesse, which manages to get the pulse racing. Supremely opulent and a refreshing change from citrus heavy wines. Altesse as you’ve never experienced before, grown an altitude of 400m with single terroir character.

From alpine vineyards, a plot of 40 year old vines in the Montagnieu appellation of Bugey. Situated in "Les Galettes", an area of decomposed limestone, white clay and stony gravel soil. The grapes are whole bunch pressed very slowly. Fermentation then starts in 600L demi-muids for a year. It is then bottled unfined and with light filtration before being kept in the cellar in bottle for another year.

A very concentrated expression and oh so comforting. The benefits of slow fermentation and slow aging. If ever there was a white wine for a long evening, this is surely it!

Tasting notes

Bright and alive, oh yes, this hits the spot. Creamy and delicious. Ample flavours and a warming texture. Slightly buttery, subtle on the orchard, stone fruit with fresh herbal notes. Barely any acidity, but a long salivating finish. Majestic.
