La Croisette

La Croisette

Altesse shines like a star in the AOC Roussette du Bugey. Yes, Florie and Adrien grow a little Chardonnay and Gamay, but their focus on the two regional varieties, Altesse and Mondeuse, steal the show. Here we have a 100% organic Altesse, from a lieu dit, a single vineyard in the Groslee village subzone of Bugey. It's an absolute dream. A very cool, saline and decadent flavoured dream.

The vines are 40 years old, grown on steep slopes formed of clay-limestone, rocky on glacial moraines with an average altitude of 400m. The grapes are all hand harvested and put in small crates to preserve the freshness. In the cellar, whole bunches are pressed gently and slowly, with indigenous yeasts. The juice is then aged for 18 months in a combination of terracotta amphora and demi-muids (barrel). The wine is then aged a further one year in bottle.

Tasting notes

Altesse really is a breath of fresh air with its stone fruit flavors and saline finish. This expression is so delicate and restrained. Peaches, quince and even some pear on the palate. This is very refined. Showing healthy levels of tension and minerality. Deeply satisfying. A versatile wine to be enjoyed at your leisure.
