La Diablesse
Caribbean folklore really isn't a thing we know much about, but despite the vagueness of the she-devil reference, this is unmistakable Renaud Guettier's Chenin Blanc.
From old vines high on the slope and with soils showing much greater levels of silex and sand. The grapes are pressed directly into barrels by gravity before undergoing fermentation in barrels on indigenous yeasts for three years of elévage. The resulting wine is oh so fine.
Whilst not wanting to get carried away, this is even better than the Dorrees. Yep, that's right. Benefitting from the oldest vines (100 years plus) and best selected fruits from his vineyards, this wines comes out chest thumping.
Tasting notes
Another style of Chenin Blanc that manages to intrigue. Great acidity, floral vibes, white fruit, some smoke and deep on the honey notes. Aye carumba. Think less fruit forward, but minerality and earthy notes are there in spades. Even some oxy vibes come through.
