Rofe Blanco

Rofe Blanco

Rofe Blanco is made from a blend of three indigenous grapes, consisting of Malvasia Volcânica, Diego and Listán Blanco, which each bring something to the table. These vines are located across a number of plots in different areas of the island, most up to or above 100 years old. Unsurprisingly, given its Lanzarote, black volcanic soil is rife and the fruit is heavily influenced by the sea and wind.

Each parcel is harvested separately according to its maturity, which can take up to a total of one month, lasting from mid-July to mid-August. Generally, the harvest starts with the Malvasia, followed by Diego and Listán. Vinification takes place in a combination of stainless steel, barrels and sherry butts. After fermentation the wines are blended and aged in barrels and oak casks for 8 months.

Tasting notes

What a combo we have here. The sea influence is definitely there, but that volcanic island funk is most marked. Citrus fruit and peach, sure, plenty of it, but the combo of smokey notes and a salty finish drives this wine with real intensity. Great salinity and length. Tasting so precise. Spellbinding!
