Tête Dans les Nuages

Tête Dans les Nuages

A lovely Spring or Summertime wine. Chardonnay grown from the Southern part of the Côte de Beaune. Half of the fruit is from an owned vineyard next to Santenay, which was converted to organic in 2017, while the other half is purchased from a plot east of Corpeau, from a certified organic grower. The AMI lads work their magic again.

The juice is directly pressed, followed by a light settling overnight. Vinification takes place in 5 to 8 barrels, undergoing a slow fermentation, which in some cases doesn't finish until the spring time due to the naturally cold cellar. The wine is then matured in the same barrels for one year without racking. The result is a balance of acidity and good density of fruit.

Finally, they've also slapped on a cool looking label that shouts retro Atari fanboy vibes. Dreamy stuff, as implied by the 'head in the clouds' nod.

Tasting notes

A scrummy blend of Chardonnay plots that is from proper Côte de Beaune postcodes. There is a bit of funk on the nose, but ultimately it simmers with energy (much like AMI). This has well balanced acidity and citrus fruit, which results in serious drinkability. Some green notes, but a very clean wine. Even better, it goes up a notch with air, so give it a good swirl and a bit of time. Zing when you're winning!
