Frauenberg

Frauenberg

Located in a medieval town comprised of half-timbered houses, hikers and winemakers, this area is postcard pretty. The wine itself is mostly Auxerrois, with a little Gewürztraminer in the mix. The end result is a wine of great energy and fascinating texture, which is both juicy and vigorous.

From a parcel of forty five year old vines surrounded by forest high in the hills above the village, which faces north, lending the wine great freshness. The grapes were pressed directly and aged in old foudres and earthenware jars. Much like the rest of his range, Léonard manages to show the art of the possible from a region that can sometimes be guilty of being too generic and bland.

Tasting notes

What a colour! Perfumed gently with spice, sweetness and smoky notes. Charming with a sense of intrigue. Loving the long salty finish that adds plenty of energy. Give it a go!
