Grumello Rocca de Piro

Grumello Rocca de Piro

Back for more alpine Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca)? Yes, we can't blame you. We feel the same. From Lombardy, the grapes are grown so high (up to 600m) and North into the Alps that we are almost within touching distance of Switzerland.

Nebbiolo dominates in these parts, and in turn gives us a wonderfully mineral expression that has real drinkability. I'm talking highly accessible in youth, with none of this waiting around malarkey. Grown from vines that are fifty years old. The wine spends four months on skins, before being pressed to age in old chestnut botti for 15 months.

Tasting notes

Pure, expressive and yum. Polished and refined, with red berry fruit flavours. Yes, it's a bit austere, but the wildness of the berries give real lushness to the juice. Borderline grainy on the finish, that is ultimately kept in check. Steadfast and true. Instantly pleasurable and thoroughly memorable!
