Gamay planted on soils of granite and schist. This is where it's at. It provides a tiny window into the divine world of Romuald Valot, but what a view it gives. Light, bright and perfumed. All you could want in a red wine.

Grown from three hectares of 100-year-old vines planted at five hundred metres above sea level around Romuald’s home in Beaujeu. The vines are left to grow wild and are neither pruned nor ploughed. Harvesting is done by hand to respect the grapes and preserve the indigenous yeasts. Vinification takes place with whole bunches, and carbonic maceration for two weeks without additives. The juice then sees 10 months of aging in used wooden casks. Bottled without filtration, and zero added sulphur.

Tasting notes

This is a dark-fruited, pure and lively take on Gamay with vibrant energy that is hard to resist. There is plenty of fruit, thyme and spice on the nose, but ultimately, we are here for the juicy and rich finish.
