La Bergerie

La Bergerie

"Gringotts is the safest place in the world for anything you want to keep safe, cept maybe Hogwarts." Hagrid, from the Harry Potter series.

The same applies to Gringet being safe in the hands of Vincent Ruiz. We are all grateful and can sleep easy at night when wine tastes this good. Time is taken in the cellar, and the evidence would suggest this is worth the wait.

From the south-facing foothill terroirs of Le Pré Milleret and Chez Reydet, this is the only blended cuvée. In the cellar there is a gentle, slow cycle press which lasts seven hours using an horizontal pneumatic press. This is followed by a 24-hour settling where the must is deliberately allowed to be in contact with oxygen. Fermentation takes place in tank before ageing on fine lees in ovoid concrete tanks for approximately 10 months. Once bottled, ageing then lasts an additional 10 months.

Tasting notes

Exceedingly energetic and delicious. Gringet is a highly characterful and complex grape, which is magnificently captured here in all its splendour. Slightly cloudy in the glass, but the texture is so bright and vivid. Green apples and a bit of almond with a spicy undertone. Expect a little bit of funk and some residue in the glass. Really good.
