Rosso di Valtellina

Rosso di Valtellina

C'mon, mountain grown Nebbiolo, what's not to like?! A wine that carries a real sense of place where you can practically smell and taste the terroir. Dry stone walls support the small parcels of land in the Rethic Alps where everything is - amazingly - still done by hand.

Nebbiolo from vines more than fifty years old planted over granite and schist, with roots growing deep into fragmented rocky soil. Fruit is sourced from the lower parts of their parcels across the various crus at around four hundred metres above sea level. The grapes are carried in the cellar dug into the mountainside where they undergo a long, gentle maceration in large wooden vats, before being pressed off to old chestnut casks for a year’s rest.

Tasting notes

Highly fruit forward and perfumed on the nose. There is a grainy, earthiness to the texture. Old school, traditional Nebbiolo with an alpine twist.
