Le Chemin des Loup
'Path of the Wolves' is quite the blend. A delicious expression of Reichsfeld terroir that is equal parts Auxerrois, Sylvaner and Riesling. Each brings its own personality, bringing roundness, acidity and elegance.
This is sixty year old vines planted on volcanic sandstone. The Riesling is pressed directly, whole bunch, while the Auxerrois and Sylvaner are destemmed and macerated for six days, before being pressed. The juice sees one year ageing in vats and old barrels.
New wave Alsace is on the rise and we like it. A lot. On the evidence of this, red riding hood is toast!
Tasting notes
Wow wow wow. Worth saying three times given the blend composition (sorry). This has layers of zesty goodness and freshness. It strikes a wonderful balance between tension and minerality, which leads to a lovely bit of salinity that coats your mouth and exaggerates the finish. Such good depth of flavour and weight. What a belter!
